He took our penalty

The following article originally appeared on the Front Page Magazine website.

Jesus Christ took our penalty kick at the cross and scored. When we were slain by our own shortcomings, having no way to turn around the game that was going against us, God made us alive with Christ. When He saw how the scores stood against us, He canceled them and took them away, nailing them to the cross. We had made several attempts to take the penalty ourselves through our good deeds, but we failed to change the scoreline. All our good works were not enough to make us go through to the next level, no matter how we tried. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

In our attempt to win the tournament our own way, we were occasionally found guilty, with the red card of sin. The penalty of the red card is death. This death expels one to the dark chambers below, never to see the light of the game again. But Jesus took this penalty upon himself, when he died for our red cards while we were still players – before we could be sent off the pitch. And as if that was not enough, he reversed this penalty in our favor, and made us the victors with eternal life. Now death has been swallowed up in victory. Him who knew no penalty took ours, so that we could qualify to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints. in the kingdom of light.

Now we do not need to take the kick again. He converted one major penalty years ago, once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God. So do not fear to play your best because of the number of cards against you name. He has cleansed your record, to be as white as wool – even though it was red like crimson. He is still converting penalty kicks today, because He always lives to make intercessions for you.
