The same Jesus as always

This day, nearly 2000 years ago, the disciples looked up to the skies for so long after the Lord had ascended; that God the father was compelled to send two angels to tell them that Jesus is gone, and reassure them thus, “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” It is bad enough to see someone go once and for all in death, but to see Him go twice must be gut-wrenching. It got more desperate when He told them that they “are now in charge.” Everything He had been doing while with them fell on the shoulders of the disciples.
Has someone ever handed you a big responsibility without warning? You wake up one day to realize that you are in charge- everything depends on you. Your word is law. All people are looking up to you for guidance and direction. Your instructions are heeded without question, and no decision is made without you weighing in. You might be thinking of a political leader, who is thrust into power because of circumstances or a chief executive officer, who gets suddenly promoted in a crisis, but the person under reference is actually you.
After the Lord ascended you got a sudden promotion. You were assigned to the office of king and a ministering angel was designated to watch your feet lest you stumble upon a rock. If you decree a thing it comes to pass. Anything you ask the father in Jesus name is now granted unto you. No drastic decision is taken without considering your prayer because you are now a friend of God- able to negotiate on behalf of a town, if there is at least one righteous person in it. You reign in this life as a king with authority and power- physical and mental strength, and ability over all the power that the enemy possesses; and nothing shall in any way harm you [Luke 10:19].
In short, we are in office. We cannot look to the skies and say in our heart: who will ascend into Heaven? That is, to bring Christ down [Roman 10:6-8]. Because this same Jesus is looking down and saying I have given you everything that pertains to life and godliness. This same Jesus is looking down and saying you already have the victory that overcomes the world, even your faith. And this same Jesus is now preparing to come back the same way he went; but this time He is with His wages and rewards to repay and render to each one just what his own actions and his own work merit [Rev 22:12].
