Macho works swiftly and manages to establish a rapport with the street boys. After all Macho had spent all his life with these so called urchins, and never lost touch with them. In very quick time, they have designed to sabotage ill will on the part of Bishop and his fraternity. Most of these boys know Bishop very well and where he resides. Macho arranges with die hard boys, to intercept the carts of “fruits” that go to Bishop’s residence every dawn.
Many of the so called hands have never imagined for one moment, why they do the carriage under the cover of partial darkness. Their eyes ware just about to open. Macho strategically places his charges in the path to be taken by the carts leading to Bishop’s residence. They remain vigilant till the first batch comes by.
There is a sudden jerk applied to the cart from behind, and before the cart mover realizes; it has been wrestled from him before it dithers into the dark alleys. One or two people carefully restrain him from yelling, and the smooth operation goes on till all the supplies of this day are diverted.
Meanwhile, the boys under Father Zamisha are waiting for their turn, to receive and unload the carts. There is no cart this day, and by the time the day fully breaks, there is apprehension and anticipation in Bishop’s residence. Macho and the little army divert the baggage and direct them to a designated area for the final onslaught. Matters are worsened when the boys in Bishop’s residence, cannot locate Father Zamisha to announce the failure to receive the daily batches of “fruits.”
Sister Tata sends her troupe of girls out on the early morning mission. Macho has also maneuvered to infiltrate the cartel. Normally, they are assigned specific booths in the park, exclusive to people prone to pimping. The ladies are well groomed, and are romantically poised to lure anyone with interest in this business. Four girls, including Sadaka troop to the park and take their positions.
One of the boys designated by Macho appears, carrying an attractive brief case; he looks like he is impatiently waiting for someone. Out emerges a lady who looks like she can help. She behaves so seductively that the decoy man almost gets taken in. “Are you waiting for someone?” she coos, to which an already rehearsed man replies, “Of course, do you work here?” And the girl knows the bait is holding.
She works hard to lure the man into her booth, and after a while of several intimated whispers, they walk to a booth. This lady is quick and decisive; she quickly encourages her catch to get off his coat, takes off his shoes and manages to lay him on the small single bed. Right in the middle of all this, a rubber snake as long and almost as real as the python emerges.
For a moment, this man believes the tramp, is transfixed and before he knows it, he is out of the booth, in nothing but all underwear! This man can only remember the monster back in the booth, he has left his briefcase, which as Macho had designed; is stuffed with waste paper material. This is unknown to the lady who gleefully gathers what to her is a baggage of treasure. This trend goes on in different degrees for four other girls, untill Macho emerges in disguise to tempt Sadaka.
Macho particularly wants to make the plan so complex, that Sadaka becomes the decoy girl in a trail of calculated sabotage. Macho emerges, and he is quickly approached by a timid and naïve Sadaka. This happens to be her first day out after the induction, and it is transient she is raw.
Macho does not allow her to struggle to lure him; instead he calls her to the side of the booth and looks from side to side, before unleashing from his pocket an intimidating fat wad of notes. He shows it to Sadaka. “Do you know the name of all this?” he asks, to which Sadaka in horror screams, “Why you? “It is all yours,” Macho quickly interjects, “but first….” Before he can say another word, Sadaka in fright makes like she will flee. She has never seen this amount of money in all her life; she does not realize just how this will impact her life and that of the persons who have commissioned her.
Macho holds her tight and brings her closer to him, “What do you see?” But the little girl is in a daze, time is fast running out, and Macho knows the other ladies are getting ready to troop to their command base with their “catch.” He must bring this scheme to speedy resolution, or the whole ploy crumbles. As if the ticking time and the stiff Sadaka are not enough impediments to his scheme, there is a sudden voice from the back of the booth, “Stop. Stop. Stop.”
To be continued.
