If I die…
By MARVIN SISSEY

Which I will, because all of us will,
Which I will because man is mortal still,
Which I will because we can all be ill,
Then,
What legacy will I leave behind,
What ideas will I leave in kind,
What love will I leave to bind?
If I die,
Which I will because it is all fate,
Which I will because it is never late,
Which I will because death nobody hate,
Then,
How many will say I helped them smile,
How many will say I helped them tread the upward mile,
How many will say I helped them keep up to style?
If I die,
Which I will, for none will escape,
Which I will, as it is our last step,
Which I will, that destiny may take shape,
Then,
My hope is that I will have left a positive mark for humanity,
My prayer is that I will have lived my life to escape vanity,
My final wish is that I will leave behind peace in life, as I will find peace in death.
